“Land of the Rising Tide” – new dance performance

Saturday, September 24th from 1-4pm

White Wave’s DUMBO Dance Festival Site-Specific Performances

Movement of the People Dance Company is excited to be presenting their new piece Land of the Rising Tide: an ode to the countries and areas devastated by natural disasters in the form of water: Japan – tsunami; Indonesia/Thailand – tsunami; New Orleans – Hurricane Katrina. This new piece of choreography will blend contemporary dance with splashes of traditional folk dances from the above mentioned countries. Original music by Dylan Glatthorn. Collaborative choreography by Joya Powell, Jaclyn Fauci, Halley Gerstel, Trina Hines, Megan Minturn, and Brittney Williams.

Where: Pier 1 Waterfront in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Site #4: The Stairs at the Granite Prospect, Site #2: Pier 1 promenade A

Times: (1st Show) 1 – 3pm/Site #2: Pier 1 promenade A, (2nd Show) 2 – 4pm/Site #4: The Stairs at the Granite Prospect

Cost: Free

Directions: Pier 1 waterfront (entrance at Old Fulton and Water Streets) in DUMBO Brooklyn. By train: The A/C to High Street. Exit onto Cadman Plaza West. Go left, toward the BQE. Cadman Plaza West becomes Old Fulton Street as you walk down the hill.

The 2/3 to Clark Street. Exit onto Henry Street.  Take a left and walk down Henry Street until you reach Cadman Plaza West/Old Fulton Street. Take a left and walk down the hill. The entrance to the Park is located at the bottom of the hill, at the water, on the left side of the street.

The F to York Street. Walk down Jay Street 1 blocks toward the waterfront. Turn left on Front Street. Proceed straight until Old Fulton Street. Turn right. The entrance to the Park is located at the bottom of the hill, at the water, on the left side of the street.
