Dylan Glatthorn
composer
Dylan is a Brooklyn-based composer and lyricist. He has worked with Grammy- and Tony-winning performers and producers, and his music has been described by the New York Times as “assured” with the “steaminess and drive of Janacek” and the “harmonic allure” of Debussy.
Dylan has written music for eleven feature films and done commercial work for brands like Lindt, Nickelodeon, Oakley, Red Bull, Alessi, PBS, and the Tokyo Metro. He prides himself on forming meaningful creative partnerships with the directors he works with, knowing how important music is to the integrity of a film. For his work in film, he has been awarded the Clive Davis Award for Excellence in Music in Film and Best Original Score at the First Run Film Festival. Dylan is also a part of the Shipwrecked Comedy family — writing everything from scores for beloved web series like Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Dinner Party to original standalone songs like "Friends 'til the End."
His original musicals, written with longtime collaborator Will Lacker, include: The Pelican (MTW New Works Fest '24, NAMT Festival '22, Frank Young Fund Grant '20-'21) Pottersfield (NFMT Grant '24), Edison, and Republic as well as one acts including Peach Melba (Prospect's MT Lab '23), Starshine, and Bittersweet Lullaby (currently licensed through Music Theatre International). He was the co-composer and arranger for Diana DeGarmo‘s GEMINI and co-producer and arranger for Lolo’s X and Lauren. He has served as music director and arranger for the USO Show Troupe as well as numerous award-winning cabaret productions for artists including Diana DeGarmo & Ace Young (American Idol, Hair), Alexa Green (Wicked, Company), Blaine Alden Krauss (Hamilton, Kinky Boots), Janine DiVita (Jagged Little Pill, Grease), and Michelle Dowdy (Les Miserables, Hairspray) at Feinstein’s/54 Below, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, The Metropolitan Room, and Birdland.
He has composed numerous original musical scores for Orange Grove Dance including REMNANTS (Premiere: The Terrace Theater @ The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.) and Leaning Toward the Sky (commissioned by the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C.). Other awards and honors include a RaumArs Artist Residency (Finland), New Hampshire Theatre Award for Best Sound Design, Mainstage Residencies & Greenhouse Residencies at Andy’s Summer Playhouse, a Metlife Creative Connections Grant, and two Alan Menken Awards.
